Hopefully, in a few weeks, I'll be able to say "two, fluently!" I know a lot of you ladies probably have multiple languages, so I'd love to hear what they are![And no, I don't speak Chinese. I'm so damn tired of people asking me a)CAN YOU TRANSLATE THIS?! and b)WHY DON'T YOU SPEAK CHINESE?!, always in tones LIKE THIS -- clearly -- because they are a)ignorant, or b)annoying.
I am Canadian. And that is what I speak. Now stuff it, jerks.]

ENGLISH!!!!
A bit of colloquial Cantonese, very basic Mandarin, a beginner's French (BF says it's more than beginner but my grammar is all effffed up!) and a couple of words in Spanish.
Any of that count?
I also speak Canadian :) and Tagalog (or people say Filipino, but I honestly think they are wrong! Filipino is not a language!)
And I know enough Spanish to order more coffee. :)
English and Tagalog. Yeah, I also don't get why people say Filipino. I guess Pilipino is more correct.
I'm Malaysian Chinese. I speak Malay, English, and Cantonese fluently. I've taken French classes before I came to study in Canada. Right now I'm learning Mandarin by watching Taiwanese dramas. :)
Malaysian Chinese here!
Fluent in: Malay, English, Mandarin, Hokkien, Cantonese.
Beginner in: German, French.
Able to converse in Korean as well.
I'm planning to take either Italian/Spanish next year. :D
I am Malaysian Chinese too but unlike cellophanegirl and NiNi- I can't speak that many languages! You guys are very talented.
I speak english and enough simple mandarin to my parents and to get by when I am in Malaysia.
THANK YOU!!!
There are so many Asians in NZ it's not funny. And sooo many of them are internationals who barely speak a word of English. People often assume the same of me. And I'm looked at funny if I say I only speak one language - ENGLISH. Doesn't help that most of my non-white friends also speak a native tongue. "I'm Canadian, that is what I speak." LOL! love it!
Do I wish I spoke another language? Well, it would definitely be useful. But I'm not going to beat myself up about it. Maybe one day I'll take classes in another language for fun - not sure what though?
I still do know a few random words of Malay and can understand the odd phrase of...er...Hokkien, or Cantonese I think? Haha. I'm not even sure what it is my mum speaks. I suck.
Other than English, I speak Italian. I'm semi-fluent.
FB: holy cripes! Those all half-count for a result of stunned admiration =P
Arianne: lol! That really is all one needs to know!
Meream: You know, I've never heard anyone say Filipino before! Hmmm...
cellophane: holy crap O.o You definitely put the rest of us to shame.
NiNi: see, when I'm sixty with Alzheimer's, you'll still be frighteningly lucid. I can't believe you can speak so many languages - that is so freaking cool!
suzie: aww, don't feel bad! I speak even less than you do.... if by less we mean none =P
ee: ha! I'm glad I could put our sentiments into words ^^ I do occasionally feel guilty for not knowing Chinese, but I'm not totally broken up over it. It's more of a guilt because everyone says I *should* know it, not an actual guilt x.x
aimee: cool! Italian is such a gorgeous language.
